My Natural Beauty Essentials

I have to admit, my skin has always been bit of a problem child. Sometimes its the perfect little angel you want to give a high five, where as other times you want to lock it in a cupboard and bang your head against a wall. I used to get really bad break outs, it would always gets this annoying oily shine or it was as sensitive as a bear who has just been poked in the eye (I'm assuming they are quite sensitive). It's amazing how much your skin can effect your confidence and you're overall mood. If I have a bad skin day I do feel more self conscious, like everyone is staring at that gigantic pimple on my face and you do want to just hide inside your cave until the Ghostbusters arrive and take it back to where it came from. On a good skin day you feel like you should be walking down the catwalk for Victorias Secret coz you are hotttttt stuff.

I have tried SO many different products, a lot of them being the more popular main stream skin products that you see advertised constantly. To be honest, I actually found that the majority of them made my skin worse. They either caused more break outs, more oil or they would completely dry my skin out. Then I decided to go back to basics and concentrated on finding products that were more natural and thereby less harsh for my skin. After bit more trial and error I discovered that the more natural the product, the better my skin responded to it. Now skincare is a totally personal thing and the products that work for me, may do nothing for someone else but I think it's so important to look after your skin just like you look after your body. So if you eat healthy foods, lots of fruits and veggies, choose organic products and steer clear of the nasty chemicals, why wouldn't you do the same with your skin? It's your biggest organ and just as important as any other part of your body. Plus like I said before healthy, glowing skin makes a whole world of difference to your over confidence and attitude.

I recently started learning about Glossier, a company with some awesome beauty products and a terrific mantra about putting your skincare above makeup, and I felt inspired. So I thought I would put together a bunch of my natural beauty essentials for those who may be looking for new products to try or for those that just want to sticky beak into what products I have in my bathroom cupboard (by the way I'm totally one of those people who love to sticky beak so I get it...)

Rosehip Oil

(This is just one brand I use, there are good ones from Sukin and Go-to as well if you want to try them out)

I have been using rosehip oil for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it. You can use it in so many different ways but I have chosen to use it as a substitute night moisturiser. I used to find that alot of moisturisers were way to heavy on my skin, particularly the night time creams and they would often be the cause of my skin breaking out. Now I know a lot of them have their own magical components and reasons why you should use them but I find that rosehip oil has a lot of the same benefits and it way less harsh on your skin. Basically it is jam packed full of vitamins and antioxidants which help with anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation. The way I use it is after I after given my face a good scrub, I apply about 4-5 drops of rosehip oil to my face so you get a nice shine and your ski just soaks it in over night. It's great because those few drops go a long way so it's quite an economical product as it takes you awhile to actually get through the bottle. Plus, I find its a really great tool if you have been out in the sun and have developed that awesome sunglass marked, red faced look, as it helps to cool down your skin and prevent peel face (never nice...).

Hideaway bath products
(This is the bath salt. So pretty and and I love the packaging!)

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you might have noticed I have a slight bath obsession. I love a good bath and I absolutely believe that soaking in the tub with some amazing products is beneficial in bringing out your natural beauty. Not only because you get some time to sit, relax and completely switch off from that crazy world outside, but also there are so many products out there to help you on distressing journey (and they also make you smell less sweaty and gross). I recently discovered this Australian company called Hideaway who do the most amazing products such as bath bombs, bath salts, soaps and scrubs. The reason why I was so interested in trying their products is because they use natural ingredients so no nasties and the presentation is absolutely amazing. I recently got the Bath salts, Coconut and Lime soap and an awesome felt soap and the way they are presented is awesome. The salts make you feel like princess in the bath and the soaps smell wayyyyyyy to edible...seriously...if it wasn't considered weird I would give them a go...

(This is the felt soap, such a cool concept and feels AMAZING in the shower)

(I want to eat this soap...it's like a pina colada dream)

Lip scrub - Lush

(This lip scrub is amazing, I also love their Bubblegum flavour).

The thing about lips is that you need them for speaking and eating, but all they make sure face look so pretty and normal looking. As great as they are, they also have a tendency to dry out and do that weird flakey skin thing. I don't know about you but I'm not really into that look, some might be but it's not my thing. I found a way to combat that and keep you lips looking silky smooth. Lush (the amazing Lush - how I love them) have an awesome lip scrub which is great for those dry lip days. It's a pretty self explanatory product, you put it on your libs and scrub away BUT they have some amazing flavours (I love the Popcorn one) and they taste amazing. The best thing about this product though is it leaves your lips look really nice and plump. It's great to use before you apply lipstick (particularly a matte one) as it makes them look less clumpy and a lot smoother.

Face the day - Formula 10.0.6
(Amazing stuff, makes you feel less dead zombie and more tanned mermaid)

Now I know when you talk about natural beauty it usually means, beauty without covering up, which I totally support. But there are some days when you are feeling little bit meh and want just little pick me up, without having to put on a full face on make up. I found Face the Day tinted moisturiser a few years back and I feel like without a doubt this is the best one out there. Not only is it a great moisturiser (thanks to the aloe vera and vitamin A components ) but it gives you a great great looking glow. You can literally get away with not wearing any make up and not looking like you have just woken from the grave. It also has SPF coverage so it helps protect that pretty little face of yours.

Water
I know...shocking right? Who would have thunk it? But i speak purely from experience, I was never a good water drinker. I always had good intentions and the words "I want to drink more water" came out of my mouth at least 4-5 times a year. But I wasn't very good. In my recently pregnant days I have found that my water intake has jumped up a considerable amount. I have a serious obsession with iced water, not room temperature, not cool, iced cold. Thanks to the little critter growing in my belly my water consumption has gone from 1/4 of a glass to 3 litres a day. Not only do I have to pee every 4 minutes BUT my skin has never look better! It feels healthier and has that nice clean glow to it. Considering us humans are made up on a large percentage of water, it does make sense that we should be regularly topping ourselves up BUT live and learn. I got there in the end.

The great thing about natural beauty products is that there are now so many great companies out there who are creating so many beautifully healthy and natural options to choose from. Companies such as Sukin, SK-ii, Go-to and Glossier (check out their Coconut Balm Dotcom -amaaaaazing) are popping up every where, each company ranging from each end of the price scale and with their own unique and equally effective products to choose from. So if you are interested in changing up your beauty routine and would like a more organic touch, definitely try some of these products that I have listed and please let me know fi you have any of our own! I am always open to new suggestions so let me know!

Ok I have been sitting for too long and this baby is beating my internal organs to a pulp so I'm off for a waddle...

  1. It may be most useful on the off chance that you include the water from a splash bottle. This additionally ensures an even appropriation. wholesale bath bombs
