Your Happy Place

I wholeheartedly, 100% believe, that it is incredibly important to find your happy place. Life, as amazing as it is, can send you through loops and crazy roads when it wants to which can ultimately lead to you feel abit crappy...

Now I know this isn't exactly a seasonal, holiday-eske kind of post but I thought I would branch out a little bit today because this is a topic I can really relate to at this particular point in my life.

Lately I have been feeling a bit blue. Now as hippie as this might sound,  I completely believe that negative thoughts and actions attract more negativity into your life. Just as positivity does. So I found myself in this negative rut where I was just in a bad mood, this moved on to stressing about EVERYTHING. Before I knew it I had problems coming out of my butt, back pain, moving house issues, the dog was running away, someone hacked into my bank account and on and on it went. I began to feel physically ill all the time. I would just burst into tears for no reason and everything was either too difficult or too stressful. I just felt completely miserable.

Finally after too many tantrums and tears I had a uh huh moment. I knew I was thinking negatively and I knew it was wrong but I wasn't doing anything about it. So I took some steps which literally changed my mind around and I began to notice changes literally straight away. I felt happier, lighter and my positivity started rising up. And thank God for that because I'll tell you what, when you are in those ruts and feeling down it can be really difficult and you can feel really lost. So I thought I would use this time to tell you, if you are going through the same thing, you are not alone. Every once in a while everyone will feel abit crap but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If you are stuck with what changes you do need to make, I'll share a few of mine. Now I will say these are completely personal, what works for me may not necessarily work for you but they are there as a simple suggestion. So here you go,  alittle look at what brought back some light into my life.

Find a someone you can talk to...
I am lucky enough to have an amazing friend who just gets me. We call each other Fairy Princess Soul mates because we are both insane and also massive hippie forest fairies. So we are on a similar wave length. Unfortunately she lives on the other side of the world but luckily for this magical invention called Skype, she was able to call me after I have just been crying my eyes out for literally no reason at all. I spent a good hour chatting about all my problems, big and small, while she listened and talked me through each one. You have no idea how good it was to not only get all this stuff off my chest but to have someone listen and then tell me that everything is going to be fine. Instant boost. I strongly suggest finding someone, whether it be your friend, family member, neighbour or even a journal and just let it all out.

Have a bath...
I love baths...I really really do...A bath is like a big warm hug. My favourite thing to do is to run a nice hot bath, fill it will Epsom salts (which are great for relaxing your muscles) and a great bath bomb (I loooove Lush bath bombs!!), turn off all the lights and put on some candles. I am a massive incense person so I have to put some of that on and hop on in. Now I either turn on some really chilled, beautiful music like 'Lykkie Li', 'Mumford and Sons', 'The Lumineers' or 'Of Monster and Men' or I watch something that will really relax me. My favourite new thing I discovered thanks to my Fairy Princess friend from above is Super Soul Sunday. I am a massive Oprah fan so as soon as I found this it was heaven. But even if you aren't, I really recommend you google it and watch a couple of these amazing interviews with some really great souls.

Go outside...
One of the great things about nature is its incredible healing power. For me, being near the ocean makes me feel as though I have been put into a power socket and I'm being charged up. I honestly believe I must have been a mermaid in my past life. But I also love being in the woods or a forest, anywhere that you can disappear to that is untouched it guaranteed to revitalize you and leave you feeling amazing.

Find a space just for you...
I have a "study"...now the reason why it is a "study" and not a study...is because in our old house my "study" was a room filled with chaos. It was like my wardrobe had vomited clothes all over the floor, then a giant paper bomb had gone off which had caused a rhino to stampede through it and cause further chaos and destruction. So in my new house I have been determined to make my "study" a real study. So I did just that. I cleaned it,  I organised it and I set it up so it's my space just for me. How can a space that's messy and cluttered be good for you? Now every time I go in that room I feel really happy and I feel more motivated to go in there and work. So go and find your own space, create it just the way you want it and fill it with things that make you happy. It could be your very own study or a park nearby, a swing, a tree, it could be absolutly anything in the whole wide world. You'll find yourself smiling just thinking about it.

Now these are just a couple of things that I have done, they aren't huge but they have really helped me. If you have any suggestions of your own or even want to share your story, this is the right place. So please feel free to comment and let me know.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll be back very soon!!
Amy x
